What is the Environment Union?
The Environment Union is an organization for everyone who works for the environment, professionally or otherwise. The main objective is to make consumption and production more sufficient in Finland and do advocacy work in different ways and throughout the society, across all sectors and political parties.
We bring together a wide group of people who are interested in, and work for the environment. The vision of the Environment Union is to evolve into an organization similar to a trade union, which speaks for its members and the environment, and has significant impact on the society. The goal is also to spread out to the Nordics and elsewhere in Europe, to do advocacy work by providing financial support for our members, and if necessary, by organizing a general strike.
The work of the Environment Union consists of the following activities
- Advising and supporting our members in transition towards a more sustainable lifestyle.
- Sharing information about the environment and sufficient production and consumption.
- Collaboration with other environment organizations in Finland.
- Taking a stance and participating in discussion of environmental issues.
The principles of the Environment Union are
- Sufficient consumption and production
- Fair transition
- Action based on research
- Equality and respectful dialogue
- Democratic decision making

Anyone who is interested in the state of the environment and agrees to our principles is welcome to join the Environment Union. The Environment Union thrives to be an organization with exceptionally abundant and diverse group of members, surpassing ideological boundaries. Different perspectives are considered as strengths which guide the dialogue in favor of supporting the common goal of sufficiency.
